Brethren,
The role of the workman has been called and, one Master Mason, Brother William Hare, has not answered to his name.  He has laid down the working tools of life and with them has left that mortal part for which he no longer has use.  His labors here below have taught his to divest his heart and conscience of the vices and superfluity of life, thereby fitting his mind as a living stone for that spiritual building, that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  Strengthened in his labors here by faith in God, and confident of expectation of immortality, he has been granted admission to the Celestial Lodge above.  His Brethren mourn the passing of a great man and Mason.
Brother William Hare 32*, was born on November 11, 1927, and passed to the Celestial Lodge on Friday August 9th, 2019 in Redding Hospital, Redding, California.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen.
Brother Hare was a World War II Army Veteran and will be interred at the Eagle Point Veterans Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon.  Brother Bill was a member of Asland Lodge #23 in Ashland, Oregon and served as it’s Worshipful Master in 2004.
He was also a member of the Medford Valley Scottish Rite and a Knight of it’s KSA Chapter.  Bill was also a member of the Hillah Shriners as well as the local York Rite bodies.
Memorial Services will be held at the Ashland Lodge #23, date to be determined.

Brother Harold H. Smallwood, 32° Has Passed Away

11707494_871135712922276_3822609796907942473_n

Brethren,

The roll of the workmen has been called, and one Master Mason, Brother Harold H. Smallwood, 32°, has not answered to his name. He has laid down the working tools of life and with them has left that mortal part for which he no longer has use. His labors here below have taught him to divest his heart and conscience of the vices and superfluity of life, thereby fitting his mind as a living stone for that spiritual building, that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Strengthened in his labors here by faith in God, and confident of expectation of immortality, he has been granted admission to the Celestial Lodge above. His Brethren mourn the passing of a great man and Mason.

Excerpt from Donelson Funeral Chapel obituary; “He was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on May 13, 1934 to Tasker and Dorothy Smallwood, the oldest of three boys. Harold grew up in Texas and graduated from Burleson High School. Harold married the love of his life, Dorothy Pearl, on December 24, 1953 and they went on to raise their daughter, Sharon, starting in California and then finally settling in Oregon. Harold was very involved in the Scottish Rite, the Masonic Lodge and the Al Kader Shriners where he was a key member of the calliope core. Everyone who knew Harold knew his love for fishing, hunting and woodworking. However, there was nothing that he loved more than the great-grandkids as he was always asking how they were doing in school and extracurricular activities up until he passed. He was a loving husband and father and was completely adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his father Tasker Aubry Smallwood, his mother Dorothy Lois Smallwood and his brothers Richard and Robert. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Smallwood; daughter Sharon McCarty of Hillsboro, OR; grandchildren, Melissa Langdale of Hillsboro, OR; Matthew McCarty of Vancouver, WA; and two great-grandsons, Damian and Sebastian Langdale of Hillsboro, OR.”

Brother Harold passed to the Celestial Lodge in on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 at 85 years of age. He was a 29 year member of Portland Valley Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member of the Al Kader Shrine, and Blue Lodge member of Tuality Lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M. of Oregon. He is interred at Fir Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro Oregon.
