In Celebration of the 225th Anniversary of the Founding of the Supreme Council, S.J., U.S.A., the Oregon Consistory No. 1 Presents:
The 1st Degree of the Scottish Rite & Feast of the Manifesto
For the first time in our rich fraternal history, and by dispensation of the Sovereign Grand Inspector General of Oregon, along with the Most Worshipful Grand Masters of Oregon and Louisiana, the Scottish Rite Entered Apprentice degree will be exemplified by the District 16 Traveling Degree Team and Germania Lodge #46 of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Louisiana, in the Orient of Oregon. This historic degree is the first of the Scottish Rite Craft Degrees, which are still in use today to initiate, pass, and raise Master Masons in Scottish Rite Lodges, such as Germania Lodge #46. The degree will be performed in the Portland Temple’s historic Vaudeville Era Theater.
May 30th Event Schedule:
11am – Doors open
12-noon – Feast of the Manifesto
2pm – Scottish Rite Entered Apprentice Degree Exemplification
5pm – Fellowship Social
This event is exclusively for current Master Masons in Good Standing in a Symbolic or Craft Lodge. Attendance at the Degree Exemplification is $100 for seats in the theater, and the Feast Luncheon in the Grand Ballroom is $33.85.

Join us as we welcome the rich tradition of the members of Germania Lodge No. 46, founded in 1844 by German-speaking Freemasons in New Orleans. They will be exemplifying the Entered Apprentice Degree utilizing their current ritual, an amalgam of 1861 Scottish Rite Craft Lodge ritual and Louisiana’s York Rite work. The Team’s main objective is to assist in bringing these beautiful and historic degrees to interested brethren throughout the country. This lodge has proudly preserved its heritage through languages and rituals, fostering brotherhood across generations. The exemplification of this work will only be performed for the purpose of education and benefit of the Craft, no candidate will be Initiated. Witness their unique ritual steeped in history and don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a historic event!

The Feast of the Manifesto is an annual celebration of the world changing declaration in 1801 that formed the Scottish Rite as we know it today. It is considered by many Scottish Rite Masons to be the most important day in our history, for it was in 1801 that the Scottish Rite formally began as an organized Masonic body. The Feast Day of the Consistory is also known as the FEAST OF THE MANIFESTO of the Order, for it was in the 1802 Manifesto, called the “Circular throughout the two Hemispheres,” where May 31, 1801 was declared to be the formal establishment of the first Supreme Council in Charleston, South Carolina. This year we will be celebrating the 225th anniversary of the Supreme Council and the 135th anniversary of the founding of our own Oregon Consistory No. 1.
