The Scottish Rite Oregon Consistory presents a Lecture by Worshipful Bro. John Laws, MPS from Washington #4 in our sister state of Washington. Worshipful Brother Laws will be doing a lecture on the Origins of Freemasonry In Germany.

This is a great topic that Bro. Laws has researched with plenty of insight for the speculative mind to contemplate on the foundation of modern Freemasonry. Bro. Laws is a founding member of the Lewis & Clark chapter of the Philalethes Masonic Research Society in Oregon and will be presenting as a representative on their behalf. For anyone not in the know, the Philalethes Society is the world’s oldest and largest Masonic Research Society.

21° – Noachite or Prussian Knight

In the 21st Degree we are admonished to be modest and humble, speaking only of the good in mankind and forgetting the evil. Slander is the exact opposite to mercy, for “Mercy blesseth him that gives and him that takes” while slander curses him that speaks it, and to say the least, does no good to the other. Our ancient brethren met to redress wrongs and defend the helpless. Masonry today has the same great mission and woe to him who would attempt to destroy it.

The apron is yellow, and contains an arm holding a sword, and a winged figure holding a key in the left hand, and the right forefinger on the lips (the “Egyptian figure of Silence”). The jewel is an point-up triangle, with an arrow, point downward, an arm holding a sword, and the motto “Fiat Justitia, Ruat Coelum.”
