Leadership Conferense

179The Regional Leadership conference was held on March 13, 14, and 15 at the Double Tree Hotel at the Lloyd Center in Portland.  The Orient of Oregon hosted this event with strong support from Brothers of all the Valleys of Oregon.  These Brothers managed transportation, registration and acted as facilitators during the “round table forums”.

The conference was attended by over 200 Masons, from as far away as Tokyo.  Three round table forums were held on Friday and Saturday discussing new member strategies; member retention and Masonic Education.

Attendees and wives relaxed at a wine and cheese social on Friday while wives attended  a special Columbia River Gorge Tour and luncheon at the Columbia Gorge Hotel.

Those who attended this event departed with great memories of Oregon and the Brothers of this Orient. (pictured is Grand Commander Ron Seale).

It is hard to conceive of any Masonic Ritual more beautiful or inspiring. We meet together to break the bread of fraternity, to reconcile ourselves with those we have offended, and to drink the wine of refreshment and renewal. This year we will be “Memorializing” our recently departed Brethren.

Rememberance and Renewal

We will be celebrating the Scottish Rite “Ceremony of Remembrance & Renewal” on March 11, 2014.

26
This Celebration is neither the Feast of the Passover nor a Sacrament of Holy Communion, although it commemorates the spirit of both days. To our Jewish Brethren it signifies the Feast of the Passover. To our Christian Brethren it signifies the Last Supper. To our Brethren of the Rose Croix it is known as the Mystic Banquet.

How long have we been performing this Ceremony? In times past we celebrated Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday Services. In 1994 it was deemed appropriate that a Scottish Rite nonobligatory, non religious “Celebration of Remembrance & Renewal” be performed near the vernal equinox (the first day of Spring).

It is hard to conceive of any Masonic Ritual more beautiful or inspiring. We meet together to break the bread of fraternity, to reconcile ourselves with those we have offended, and to drink the wine of refreshment and renewal. This year we will be “Memorializing” our recently departed Brethren.

We hope you will join us for an excellent meal, beautiful harp music, and an “Inspiring” Ceremony to honor our recently departed Brethren.

16th: Prince of Jerusalem

This degree emphasizes the fact that one must use every means to be beneficial for the society in which one lives. We not only set our own example for our society, but we enlist the aid of our Brothers.

Together, Masons are custodians of freedom. Our charge is to leave a noble heritage to those who follow us in this world. We build temples of the Living God in our hearts by following the truths of justice, equity, morality, wisdom, labor, fidelity, and Brotherhood-so that the collective liberties for mankind can be protected.
