Passing of Inspector General Honorary, Illustrious Br. Duane H. Hickson

Duane H Hickson Brethren,
The role of the workman has been called and, one Master Mason, Brother Duane Homer Hickson, 33°, has not answered to his name. He has laid down the working tools of life and with them has left that mortal part for which he no longer has use. His labors here below have taught his to divest his heart and conscience of the vices and superfluity of life, thereby fitting his mind as a living stone for that spiritual building, that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Strengthened in his labors here by faith in God, and confident of expectation of immortality, he has been granted admission to the Celestial Lodge above. His Brethren mourn the passing of a great man and Mason.

Duane Homer Hickson was born June 7, 1948 in Eugene Oregon, he was a Steamfitter and a Union Organizer. He was Raised a Master Mason in McKenzie River Lodge #195 and served as Master of that Lodge in 1995. He received the Scottish Rite degrees on May 6, 1989 in the Eugene Valley. He was also a member of Coos Bay Valley. He was Invested K.C.C.H. on November 8, 2003, and Coroneted Inspector General Honorary 33° in Portland on September 8, 2007. He died in Eugene on February 6, 2020. He was the sitting Grand High Priest of Oregon Royal Arch Masons at the time of his death.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 290 Hall on Sunday February 23rd at noon. The hall is located at 2861 Pierce Parkway, Springfield, Oregon. It is northeast of the intersection of 31st Street and Marcola Road with parking on the west side of the building.

Scottish Rite Annual Philanthropic contributions report

IMG_0194

Greetings Scottish Rite Brethren All,

At the last Biennial session of Supreme Council there was a presentation on the philanthropic out pouring that is generated by the Members of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States.

So… Congratulations Brother!

Thanks to you and the support of your fellow Brethren in 2017-2018 the Scottish Rite contributed $960,291,000 in donations to worthy causes and charities. To list just a small number of the causes we supported on a regular basis; the Speech and Language development Charities, Local Student Scholarships, National Student Scholarships, and also helping victims of natural disasters such as fires, floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes.

As members of this ancient and honorable Fraternity we can each take pride in our contributions helping to support worthy causes in our communities and society overall across the country and around the world.
