Medford Valley Scottish Rite: August 2026 Round-Up & Updates
The Medford Valley Scottish Rite opened in Long Form on August 10, 2026, led by Master of Kadosh Bro. Alexander Ben-Israel. Beyond routine business, the meeting highlighted several exciting developments, updates, and upcoming events for our members.
Valley Updates & Facility Improvements

- Upgraded Audio-Visual Tech: The Valley acquired a new 100-inch television display thanks to Brother Paul Fabian, alongside replacing a 2010 Windows 7 laptop with a modern system.
- New Flagpole Installation: A commercial-grade, black anodized flagpole is currently underway, with city permitting and ground preparation complete. Final installation and illumination are targeted for September 11.
- Member-Use Facility Policy: Executive Committee approved a policy allowing Medford Scottish Rite members to use the Scottish Rite Center free of rental charges for personal family events (anniversaries, birthdays, memorial services, and reunions).
- New Petition: A new petition for degrees was balloted upon and approved.
Southern Oregon Fall Reunion
Members are also looking ahead to one of the most significant Scottish Rite events for the Medford Valley in recent years—the September 11–12 Reunion. The reunion has not been held in the Valley for quite some time, and interest from throughout Oregon is expected.
The schedule will begin Friday at the Medford Scottish Rite Center afternoon with registration followed by the 4th, 14th and 18th Degrees, with dinner included in the evening’s activities. Saturday will feature the 30th and 32nd Degrees in Klamath Falls
Members are encouraged to participate in the rehearsals, even if they are not performing a particular degree. Stage crew, transitions, and other behind-the-scenes assistance are essential to making a Reunion successful.
Masonic History Highlights

- House of the Temple: HON Bro. Richard Nowacki, 32, KCCH (Western Region Donor Officer for the Supreme Council) delivered a presentation detailing the history of the Supreme Council headquarters in Washington, D.C. Designed by John Russell Pope and inspired by the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Temple serves as both the operational headquarters and the resting place of Albert Pike and John Henry Cowles.
- Portland Scottish Rite Temple: Members also explored the history of America’s oldest continually operating purpose-built Scottish Rite Temple (dedicated 1902, opened 1903). The Portland Scottish Rite Temple Foundation is currently growing an endowment for ongoing preservation.
From the Desk of Bob Crum, 33, Personal Representative
“As we approach the end of summer, we will again go back to our normal routine of Family Dinners on the 3rd Monday of each month. The month of September our Family Dinner will be on Monday the 21st of September.”
To relieve the distressed is one of the fundamental obligations taught to every Mason. On August 4th, we received the call to assist our Scottish Rite Brethren in the Spokane Valley Scottish Rite.
Multiple Scottish Rite members have suffered significant damage, losing portions of their homes and local businesses. Tragically, two of our Brethren have lost everything. We are grateful to report that, to our knowledge, no Brethren or their family members have lost their lives in this disaster.
The Medford Valley recently answered an urgent request to assist brethren in the Spokane Valley Scottish Rite following severe local property loss, contributing $500 ($250 from the General Fund and $250 from the Almoner’s Fund).
