Saturday, November 1st, 2025 will be the Orient of Oregon 2025 Ceremony of Honors

Location:
Portland Valley Scottish Rite Temple at 709 SW 15th Ave, Portland, OR 97205.

Free parking is available at 699 SW 15th Ave, Portland, OR 97205. Additional pay parking at the Hotel de Luxe parking garage at 815 SW 15th Ave, Portland, OR 97205.

The Hotel de Luxe is also the recommended lodging for out-of-town overnight attendees, as it is directly adjacent to the Temple. bookings at https://www.hoteldeluxe.com/

Schedule

  • 10:00 AM – Doors open. Honoree photos for 33° Candidates in the 2nd-floor starting at 11am. Note: Only light snacks will be available at the Temple; please eat beforehand.
  • 12:30 PM – 33° Candidate ceremony for Signing of the Gold Book.
  • 1:00 PM – Coronation of the 33rd Degree in the Lodge Hall, followed by a group photo of all 33° members. (Exclusive to 33° Elect and 33° Members.)During the ceremony, KCCH Candidate photos will be taken in the conference room on the 2nd-floor.
  • 3:00 PM – Reception in the basement Member’s Lounge — open to all Masons, Scottish Rite members, and guests. Any additional Photos of newly honored 33° members will be taken during this time.
  • 3:15 PM – KCCH Candidate ceremony for Sign the Red Book.
  • 3:30 PM – Investiture of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH), followed by a group photo. Open to all Masons, Scottish Rite members, and guests.
  • 6:30 PM – Social at the Portland Yacht Club, advanced reservations are required; all seating has been fully occupied at this time. Location: 1241 NE Marine Drive Portland, Oregon 97211
  • 7:00 PM – Honors Banquet and awarding of patents.

33° Elect – What to know

BRING YOUR WHITE CAP BUT DO NOT WEAR IT UNLESS INSTRUCTED
10:00 AM – Doors, 33° Candidate photos of individual Honorees in their caps will be taken in the conference room on the 2nd floor starting at 11am.
Please note: The only food available at the Temple will be light snacks, it is recommended for attendees to eat prior to attending.
12:30 PM – Signing of the Gold Book. All 33° Candidates will assemble in the Founders Room on the 1st floor for a brief ceremony to sign the Gold Book.
1:00 PM – Coronation Ceremony of the 33rd Degree. This will take place in the Lodge Hall, followed by a group photo of all 33° members. (This is exclusively for 33° Elect and current 33° Members.)

KCCH Elect – What to know

3:15 PM – Signing of the Red Book. All KCCH Candidates will assemble in the Founders Room on the 1st floor for a brief ceremony.
3:30 PM – Ceremony of Investiture for Knight Commander of the Court of Honor, followed by a group photo of all KCCH Members. Open to all Masons, Scottish Rite members, and accompanied guests.

Invitations mailed to Honourmen

Formal invitations have been mailed to all Orient of Oregon Honourmen.

Brethren, check your mail boxes in the coming week. You will receive an email follow-up once the formal invitations have been delivered. Registration is exclusively online, do not mail checks to the Orient without written dispensation from the Orient Secretary General.

Orient Valley Leadership and the General membership will be provided with the online registration and reservations links at the end of September, once our Honourmen have had ample opportunity to make their reservations.

Final Deadline for 2025 Education Foundation Scholarships Sunday, March 30, 2025

The Orient of Oregon’s Education Foundation Scholarship application period drawing to a close. All applications and supporting documents must be received by March 30, 2025. Any mailed in applications must be postmarked by the deadline.

Once at this site there is a link to the online fillable application. There was a letter and an email sent to all Valley PRs, Secretaries and Scholarship Reps. with printed copies of the applications to distribute.

Applicants for Scottish Rite Scholarship assistance must be residents of the State of Oregon entering as undergraduates at an accredited college, university or trade school. Grants are made on the basis of student need. Consideration is also given for exceptional qualities of leadership.

The Scottish Rite, SJ, is committed to assisting our Brethren, family, and friends recently impacted by Hurricane Helene. This was a massive Category 4 hurricane when it made landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida. The devastating storm has caused serious damage not only in that state but also up the Eastern portion of the United States, including, but not limited to, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Orient Charities event postponed, Portland Valley showing Time Bandits the movie

The Orient Charities event is postponed until next spring. In its place on October 1st at 6:30pm the Portland Valley Temple will premiere Time Bandits, the 1981 adventure fantasy with masonic undertones rated PG with a runtime of 1hr 50min.

Summary: Young history buff Kevin (Craig Warnock) can scarcely believe it when six dwarfs emerge from his closet one night. Former employees of the Supreme Being (Ralph Richardson), they’ve purloined a map charting all of the holes in the fabric of time and are using it to steal treasures from different historical eras. Taking Kevin with them, they variously drop in on Napoleon (Ian Holm), Robin Hood (John Cleese) and King Agamemnon (Sean Connery) before the Supreme Being catches up with them.

Directed by Terry Gilliam and staring David Rappaport, John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall, Katherine Helmond.

This feature will premiere in the main auditorium, the attire is casual, and family and friends are welcome. There will be pizza and beverages available for purchase!

The Orient of Oregon’s Education Foundation Scholarship application period is still open but the deadline for this year is fast approaching on April 15th, 2024.

The was a letter and an email sent to all Valley PRs, Secretaries, and Scholarship Reps with more information. You can use the contact page on the Education Foundation’s website for any questions.

At this time we have received a limited number of applicants but are hoping to get more before the deadline. Acceptance of Applications will CLOSE midnight Monday April 15th, 2024.

All Valley Scholarship Representatives are requested to contact their local high schools and encourage them to have students apply, ASAP!!!
